Uploading Videos When your video is ready (go here for help on getting your video from your camera to your computer), make sure that it is less than 10 minutes long, smaller than 100MB, and in an acceptable format. Note that some more complex H.264 .MOV video files won't work. We'd suggest uploading in other formats (such as .DIVX or .MP4) for the most reliable results.
Depending on your internet connection speed and size of the video, it can take from a couple minutes to several hours for your video to upload. Please be patient. Once your video has been uploaded, you will see a message that it is being processed. This can take a couple of additional minutes. If you receive an error with your upload, make sure that the file you are attempting to upload is in an accepted format. ThisIsBozeman.com accepts video files in the .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, .DIVX, .MP4 and .MPG file formats. If your uploaded video never shows up, try uploading the video in a different format. I uploaded a video, why isn’t it showing? After uploading is complete, it will still take a few minutes for your video to be processed. You will not be able to play your video until it finished processing. If your uploaded video never shows up, try uploading the video in a different format. For example, if you tried to upload a .MOV, try a .DIVX or .MP4 instead. Note that some more complex H.264 video files won't work. H.264 .MOV files can be the most problematic. How will people find my video? The more information that you enter in your video description; the more likely it is to be found in searches. Also use pertinent keywords (sometimes called tags), to classify your video. For instance, if you tag a mountain bike video with “mountain biking,” the next time somebody searches for “mountain biking” your video would be displayed. After uploading a video, how do I edit the description, title, or keywords? This functionality is being added and will be available soon. When it's available, to edit your video information, log in to your account, click on “My Videos” and then click on the “Edit Video” link. How do I remove a video that I uploaded from ThisIsBozeman.com? To remove a video, log in to your account, click on “My Videos” and then click on the “Remove Video” link. Can I change the thumbnail that is automatically created for my video? No, but that functionality will be added in the future. For now, the system automatically takes a screen shot from 20 seconds in to your video and that image will be displayed. How long will uploading my video take? The time that it takes to upload video depends on your internet connection speed and the size of the video. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours to upload a video. Why does my uploaded video have horizontal lines when there's motion? The reason your video has horizontal lines, or a combing effect, when there's motion is because the video you uploaded is interlaced. You can read about interlaced video here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interlaced_video. To remedy this problem, try uploading your video at 640x480. Higher resolutions produce better results with regards to displaying interlaced video on ThisIsBozeman.com. Do I have to join to upload/share video? Yes, and joining is free and easy. Join the ThisIsBozeman.com community today! Accepted video formats are .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, .DIVX, .MP4 and .MPG. Note that some more complex H.264 video files won't work. Your video must be converted to one of the accepted formats in order to upload it to ThisIsBozeman.com. Older video cameras with digital output may or may not output to accepted video formats (.WMV, .AVI, .MOV, .DIVX, .MP4 and .MPG). New cameras likely will output to an accepted format. If you have an analog video camera (one that uses VHS, VHS-C, SVHS-C, 8mm, or Hi8 tape), you can still get your videos on to ThisIsBozeman.com. You will need to digitize your video before uploading it. How do I upload my DVD to ThisIsBozeman.com? There are numerous DVD converters available on the internet. Remember that it is illegal to convert copyrighted DVDs to other file formats for upload to ThisIsBozeman.com Can I upload and download other types of content?
